The main thing I convey with regards to games is The fun comes first. If the game isn't fun, then there's no point. You also have to understand that you're not making them for yourself. You're making them for the players. You have to understand how people's emotions work if you want to make games. So I teach that designing games equates to knowing and understanding people. It's also important to keep in mind that game is but one form of play. So really, designing games is like designing how we're going to play in the future.
