We often talk about games, the importance of games that make you cry, and I think games that make you laugh are just as important. It's such a core human desire and comedy is usually underrated, this is why you don't see comedy films win an Oscar, and it's a shame. And I think games can do comedy very well but they have to be designed from the start to build in the comedy and not sort of pour it on later. // I also think that comedy can be very good for luring players into other emotional states and I think PSYCHONAUTS was a brilliant game for that because it made you kind of laugh and while your defenses were down it hit you with a kind of emotional reaction as well , so it was a real one-two punch, so you would laugh and then there'd be this emotional impact as well and that's very clever to pull off. And it did it so well, it was very funny but really touching at the same time. That is such a powerful combination. But they built it in from the start.
